Haven't updated in a bit, so here's what I have been up to in the past week or two ...
From Sunday to Wednesday last week, I was on a 60 foot yacht sailing from Port Stephens to Sydney. The Sunday to Tuesday involved painting and antifouling the yacht, and we sailed the yacht back to Sydney from the Tuesday arbo until Wednesday around 2 pm.
It was a training run for an event in November (
MilesPer
Hour) as part of a few days of lobbying concentratyed around the upcoming G20 Finance Ministers summit in Melbourne. MilesPerHour is essentially a huge convergence of young people in Melbourne to get our voice out about the MDGs.The main event will be on November 17th, with a huge concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl (called Generation2015) just before the G20 opens. For more info, have a look at the
Oaktree website.
Tuesday night was interesting, as we had pretty big swell (around 4 metres, maybe) with the wind going directly against us, so it wasn't the most enjoyable trip during the night. And its not so useful when the wind decides to completely die every 15 minutes. But we got through it in the end. While we were passing Newcastle we had to dodge a few huge ships (about 20 in fact) and that was an interesting sight. Although never get me up at 3am to sail! Not a good ideam, especially when I'm sleep deprived...
Other than the sailing, I officially have 8 days or school left, ever. The only catch is that on October 19 i start my HSC exams. I finish exams on November 8. So I know I should be studying, but at the moment, it seems very hard. Motivation is just no tthere, but i'm still plugging away at it nonetheless.
For any Aussies out there, my year at school recently had a day of lectures (focused on our English studies) and one of the guest speakers was Craig from The Chaser. Unfortunately i wasn't there to see it (I was on the yacht!) but if you are bored and need something to do, have a look at YouTube, and there is a short video clip from it somewhere up there. It's called Everything's War on the Chaser.
Anyway, I better get back to some study., if I can be bothered!
